Pete Merrill
Belfair, Mason County
"Pete Merrill of Belfair is a master at making whimsical, pictorial windmills, known as "whirligigs" or "mole-chasers."  Such pieces are a typical kinda of homemade outdoor decoration in many parts of North America, and have been mass-produced in recent years.  Mr. Merrill's "whirligigs" incorporate a high degree of woodworking craftsmanship, artistic vision, and humor."
