...SIX MODULAR COURSES OFFERED SPRING QUARTER...Six modular courses will Be offered Spring
Quarter at Evergreen to part-time and auditing students, according to Academic Dean^ Charles
Teske. An introduction to these academic programs
designed to serve adults from the
immediate college service area
will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. March 13 in Lecture
Hall Three on the Evergreen campus. Teske said the special "Living Catalog" presentation
will offer interested persons an opportunity to meet faculty members and discuss academic
program content.
Registration for the one-credit modules, which are equivalent to four quarter hours
of credit, will be held April 3 from A to 8 p.m. in the Office of Admissions, Modular
offerings include: Films and Writings of Alain Resnais, Robert Bresson, and Jean-Luc Godard,
taught by Faculty Member Gordon Beck; Introductory Physics, taught by Faculty Member Rob
Knapp; Philosophy of Science, taught by Faculty Member Charles Pailthorp; Nineteenth Century
Russian Literature, by Faculty Member Tom Rainey; Future of Sino-American Relations, by
Faculty Member Paul Marsh; and Varieties of American Childhood by Faculty Member Wini Ingram,
Registration fees for persons interested in earning academic credit as "special"
students are $80 per module. Auditing students
those not wanting formal evaluation or
credit
may enroll in the programs for $20. Interested persons should contact the Office
of Admissions (866-6170) or the modular course instructors for additional information.
...SIXTY-THREE INTERNS ASSIGNED TO OLYMPIA...Sixty-three Evergreeners are currently completing internship assignments in the Olympia area. Ken Donohue, director of the Office
of Cooperative Education, says the students are among more than 120 new Winter Quarter
interns. An additional 70 students are continuing Fall Quarter intern assignments. All are
earning academic credit for field experiences in a wide variety of businesses, governmental
and social agencies throughout the state and the nation.
In addition to the 63 students placed locally, ten interns each have been assigned to
Seattle and Tacoma, five each to Vancouver, Wash., and Chehalis-Centralia area; three each
to Shelton and Bellevue, two to Brinnon, and one each to Bremerton, Electric City, Federal
Way, Hoodsport, Littlerock, Snohomish, Walla Walla and Winslow. Six Evergreeners are
interning out of state, and three are completing assignments outside the United States.

...OFFICE OF COOPERATIVE EDUCATION CHOSEN FOR HEW STUDY.. .The Office of Cooperative Education
has been selected to participate in a national study of cooperative education program
structures, according to Co-op Director Ken Donohue. The study, sponsored by the U.S. Office
of Education and conducted by Northeastern University, is expected to provide a new profile of
existing co-op programs and a means of defining or redefining co-op ed "in an innovative way,"
Donohue says. The profile could lead to changes in the federal guidelines for allocation of
program support funds.
Evergreen's Co-op program was one of 42 selected for study from among more than 800
colleges and universities across the country offering cooperative education experience as part
of their curriculum, Donohue adds.
...ART-IN-SCIENCE EXHIBIT ON DISPLAY... The Art-in-Science Exhibit, organized by the Albany
Institute of History and Art and circulated for two years by the Smithsonian Institution, is
currently on display in the reference area of the Evergreen library. The exhibit, described
by art critics as "one of the most unique exhibitions to come along in many years," was
organized in 1965 and includes two-dimensional scientific representations based on the theme
of the contemporary relationship between the visual arts and sciences.
On display through March 22, the exhibit is free and open to the public. Gallery
hours are from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays; from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, and from 1 to
8 p.m. Sundays.
